HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur, affectionately known as 'Pacho' among friends.
As the current Maharaja of Jaipur, he follows in the footsteps of his esteemed ancestors, including the legendary Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Polo runs in the veins of the Jaipur Royal family, and Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh has embraced this sport with exceptional zeal and talent.

 

Early Journey and Achievements:
 

  • Competitive Polo Career: Commenced in 2015 at England's Guards Polo Club.

  • Over 75 Titles: Has secured more than 75 titles in various polo tournaments.

  • International Representation: Represented India in multiple international tournaments, including the Jaipur Gold Cup and the Cartier Queen's Cup.

  • Leadership of Indian National Team: Led the Indian national polo team during their visit to Hurlingham Park in 2017, marking the first time an Indian team had set foot on the prestigious venue in over 70 years. 

  • Recognition: Crowned the Most Valuable Polo Player in Jodhpur Season 2023

India's 21st Century

As the youngest polo player ever to captain an Indian team, His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh has become a significant figure in the polo world. He led his teams to Iran, Sydney, and South Africa for the XI and XII FIP World Polo Championships in 2017 and 2022. Most recently, he captained the Rajputana International Polo Team to victory at The Tournoi Maharaja De Jodhpur Championship 2023 in Morocco, a testament to his leadership and skill.

‘Pacho’ began his competitive polo career in England in 2015, joining the esteemed Guards Polo Club. Since then, he has accumulated more than 80 titles in various polo tournaments, testifying to his immense talent and unswerving commitment to the sport.

Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh continues to break new ground in polo, cementing his reputation as one of the sport's most thrilling young talents. He stands not only as a custodian of Jaipur's royal heritage but also as a harbinger for the future of Indian polo.

For those of our readers who are unaware of its rich past, the Jaipur Team's storied history is reminiscent of its triumphs in the 1930s, where it clinched championship titles across Europe and the United Kingdom, earning  admiration and respect on the international polo stage. The historic victory in 1957 at Deauville, France, continues to be celebrated as a testament to the team's prowess and sportsmanship.
 

With the revival of the Jaipur Team, His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh pays homage to the rich polo heritage of the Jaipur Royal Family.
